Autumn in Colorado is a short season. In the two and a half weeks I have been here, the temperature has dropped from a 30C average to about 15C. The high peaks have been dusted with two days of snow, and today icy rain was falling in Boulder. I took the opportunity to ride in Nederland on Saturday, perhaps the last weekend of the year that above tree-line riding will be accessible. the glorious combination of sunshine and snow blowing off the high peaks was a perfect compliment to the golden carpet of aspen leaves on the singletrack. Every photo taken was filled with bright powerful colours, seemingly a last display before the blanket whiteness of winter.
